Hélène Létang, alias Liberaj Cicoj is a self-taught painter born in 1974, in the Paris region.

Her work stems from a feminist commitment, a desire to replace the extreme sexualization of the female body, in particular that of the breast and the nipple, with visual and artistic creations.

Liberaj Cicoj means: Free nipple in Esperanto.

In her works it is a reflection on the image of the female breast that is involved.

Liberaj Cicoj's artistic approach aims to offer an alternative and feminist representation of the female breast in society, fighting against stereotypes and imposed gender norms.

By using her own body, especially her breasts, as an instrument of creation, she adds a bodily and emotional dimension to her work, creating a physical and intimate connection with her work and affirming her artistic autonomy as a woman.

This method adds a dimension of performance and spontaneity to the work, emphasizing the importance of free and authentic creative expression for women in a patriarchal society.

The use of acrylic paint allows him a wide variety of styles and textures, while using the imprint and the imposition of the body on the canvas and thus offering a more personal and intimate approach to his artistic creation.

  This method can be seen as a return to the roots of art and primitive artistic expression.

  The breast is used as a creative tool and the art object in itself, it reaffirms the strength and beauty of femininity and offers an alternative and liberating representation of the female body.

The shape left by the imprint of the breast, a recurring motif in her creations, is often close to a circle, loaded with symbolism, it generally represents eternity, perfection, divinity, infinity.

Thus, the use of this motif in the art of Liberaj Cicoj adds an additional symbolic dimension and presents the female breast as something almost perfect, even divine, underlining the importance of celebrating the beauty and power of women.

Liberaj Cicoj's art ingeniously uses shapes and symbols to evoke a multitude of ideas and sensations, offering an alternative and feminist representation of the female body and femininity in art.contemporary.

"The breast serves as a buffer, it sublimates the flat areas of color, it is both the tool and the work itself, without filter and yet unrecognizable, it is this body which provokes and invokes the spirit. It reveals its nature through superimpositions of materials,of theexplorations of textures, play on nuances, it is the projection of human creation, of the essence of humanity. The flesh becomes an energy, the breast and the nipple are affixed, juxtaposed, they tell a story, their story, our story, leaving the viewer, co-creator of the work, to project their own emotions and wander according to their sensitivity.

By reclaiming its body, far from judgments, boxes, shackles, the free nipple gives us its identity and the soul of its beauty.

Liberaj Cicoj sends us the message of our origins, our place in the world, and the depth of human values.

The breast does not immediately appear to the spectator who, when he discovers it, is given the key to his wonder. His face lights up, he is both surprised and carried away by a universe of mysteries and obvious clarity.
